When using MixStage DAW streamer, you need a virtual sound card or audio loopback device to send audio from your DAW to the DAW streamer.

Setup Options:

Option 1: OSX only: If you have a newer version of Pro Tools (2022-09 or later) installed on your system, the Pro Tools Audio Bridge will be installed by default and can be used system-wide with any DAW.

Option 2: Many sound cards distribute software with an audio loopback mechanism built in, which can also be used for this routing. (RME Totalmix etc)

Option 3: If none of the above is present on your system, you need to download a third party Virtual Sound Card software.

Disclosure: MixStage™ is not affiliated with these third-party developers and can not answer specific questions about their setup processes. However, user reports say that:

Blackhole from Existential Audio works well for Mac.

Virtual Audio cable from VB-Audio works well for Windows.

After following the installation instructions, the newly added virtual audio card will be installed on your system and can be used to route outputs from your DAW into the MixStage DAW streamer.

Route audio from your DAW to the MixStage DAW streamer

Solution A: Set the Playback Device / Audio Engine in your DAW to output all DAW sound via the Virtual device of choice. Or press the loopback function in your Sound Card settings for the same result.

Then, select the Selected Device for Audio input in the DAW streamer

Listen to the sound coming into your MixStage Session and watch the video in the same way clients do.

Note: the delay/latency is very small using MixStage™, but a sync discrepancy when watching the video in your DAW while listening to the MixStage audio will still be noticeable. Choose one or the other.

TIP for OSX: Configuring an aggregate device for more advanced routing options is also possible.

Solution B: (OSX and Pro Tools only) Use Pro Tools Audio Bridge;

Add an AUX I/O in your I/O window to create a separate output for the DAW streamer.

Use this AUX I/O to route either specific channels or your entire master output to the DAW streamer.

TIP: Hold [control] on your keyboard to select several outputs for a single channel in Pro Tools. I.e., send your Master to your main output and the Aux I/O.

Then, select the correct Audio Bridge device as Audio input in the DAW Streamer.

Proceed to set up MIDI
