Introduction to Markers
Markers are a pivotal feature in MixStage™, allowing users to pinpoint specific locations on the project timeline.
Place / Drop a Marker
To place a marker at the current position in your timeline, click the 'Drop Marker' button or press the 'Return' key on your keyboard.
Add Comments to Markers
Upon dropping a marker, you can choose to annotate it. A text box will appear in place of the Drop Marker button. Press 'Return' or 'Escape' to confirm the comment.
Select Marker Types
Adjacent to the 'Drop Marker' button, you'll find a selector tool that provides eight marker categories. The category names can not be changed. Click to select a category or use the number keys (1-8) for quick selection:
1. Dialog 5. Generic
2. Music 6. VO
3. FX 7. ADR
4. Foley 8. Backgrounds / Ambience
The Marker panel
Accessing the Marker Panel
A session moderator will always see the marker panel switch, while a participant may or may not see this panel depending on the moderator settings. This guide assumes you are in a session where you can change the marker panel.
In your session, click the "Markers" button on the screen's right side.
Marker list
The marker panel displays all markers currently in the session. This is the easiest and most convenient way to manage all markers.
Save and create New Marker Lists.
Click "Save List" to save your current markers to the cloud. A save will also clear the timeline from all markers to give you a fresh start.
Switch Between Marker Lists
Stored marker lists can be recalled at any time; use the selector to choose which marker list to display.
Search/filter Markers.
The search function filters the list based on the letters entered. All text is searchable, i.e., title, comment, category, and user name.
Download Marker Lists
Export your marker lists for various DAWs and editors. Ensure your MixStage™ project settings (start time and frame rate) are correct in relation to your DAW settings before export. If you currently use the search/filter function, an option to download only the filtered markers will be presented.
Compatibility with DAWs
You can download marker lists compatible with multiple platforms, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Reaper, Audition, Resolve and Media Composer. There are also generic options: generic MIDI and Generic CSV files (excel, etc).
Edit Marker Properties:
Move the playhead to marker position
Modify title and description.
Change marker type
Adjust position
Capture a screen shot at the marker position.
Save Changes
After making any alterations, remember to click "Save" to apply the changes to the marker.
Conclusion
The marker panel is a powerful tool within MixStage, designed to offer maximum efficiency and precision when handling project markers.
